LCD is at its best performance up to & including thirty-two inches, whilst Plasma televisions deliver greatest performance at thirty seven inches, & higher. For that reason, if you wish to buy a small flat panel telly set, then LCD gives the far better performance, in contrast if you are searching for a bigger screen size, Plasma is easily the greatest option.

Our Griefs and Sorrows

Do we have the inner peace that comes from God in spite of our trials and difficulties? The shed blood of Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sins. With his stripes we can be healed of our physical diseases. What about our griefs and sorrows? Does the sacrifice of Jesus Christ deal with the pains of the mind? The purpose of this article is to explain how Jesus Christ bore our griefs and sorrows.

The Sufferings of Jesus Christ

The prophet Isaiah wrote about the future sufferings of Jesus Christ in Isaiah 53:3-5:

“3He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” (KJV)

The Hebrew word for grief refers to pains of the body, and the Hebrew word for sorrows refers to pains of the mind.

12 Ways That Jesus Christ Bore Our Griefs and Sorrows

Jesus Christ bore our griefs and sorrows even before his death on the cross. Here are 12 ways in which Christ bore our sorrows:

1. Life threatened by Herod as an infant (Matthew 2:16)

2. Falsely accused of casting out demons through Satan (Matthew 9:34; 12:24)

3. Falsely accused of being demon possessed and mad (John 8:52; 10:20)

4. Life in danger often and the Jews sought to stone him (John 8:40; 10:31)

5. Falsely accused of being a glutton and winebibber (Matthew 11:19)

6. Falsely accused of breaking the Sabbath (John 5:18)

7. Tempted often by Satan (Luke 4:13)

8. Betrayed by Judas Iscariot with whom he had spent three and a half years (Matthew 26:14-16)

9. Forsaken by his disciples (Matthew 26:56)

10. Peter denied three times that he even knew him (Matthew 26:75)

11. Mocked and spat upon (Matthew 27:29-30)

12. Felt forsaken by His father while dying on the stake (Matthew 27:46)

Matthew seems to indicate that after Jesus Christ fasted for 40 days and defeated Satan that Satan left him. Matthew’s account seems to indicate that after having lost this battle that Satan never tempted Jesus Christ again (Matthew 4:11).

However, Luke’s account provides more complete information. Luke 4:13 tells us that when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.

While Satan is the god of this world (II Corinthians 4:4), Jesus Christ is the prince of peace. He was chastised for our peaceour reconciliation to God.

The Peace of God

The apostle Paul states in Philippians 4:6-7 that we should not have anxiety, but that we should make our requests known unto God to receive the peace that comes from God:

“6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (KJV)

Why do we not seek God when we have anxiety, griefs, and sorrows? One reason is that our sins and the resulting guilt and shame discourage us from seeking God. We may want to hide from God when we sin as did Adam and Eve after they sinned. Indeed, guilt is a major cause of emotional problems.

We need to repent, confess our sins, and trust in the blood of Jesus Christ who paid the penalty for our sins. If we do so, God will remove our sins from us as far as the East is from the West (Psalm 103:12). We need faith in God’s promise of forgiveness.

Another possible cause of our not seeking God for help with our anxieties and trials is pride. We have pride when we attempt to meet our needs apart from God. The word pride has the letter “I” right in the middle. We need to trust not in ourselves, other people, or things to meet our needs. We need to trust in the living God to meet our needs and direct our paths.

Giving thanks is often difficult when we are worried and going through sore trials. One of the things for which we can be thankful is that Jesus Christ bore our griefs and sorrows. We can also thank God for his past interventions in our lives and in the lives of others.

We need to count our blessings one by one and be thankful. Recounting our blessings can give us hope for future blessings from God who is our helper and provider.

We also need to need to take our cares and concerns one by one to God in prayer and supplication. Supplication means seeking God continually. When we do so, the peace of God will guard our hearts and minds. Therefore, we can be free from anxiety and distress.

Jesus Christ Cares for Us

The apostle Peter contributed to the sufferings of Jesus Christ by fleeing from him during his trial and denying three times that he even knew him. Of course, Peter later repented and became one of the leading apostles in the early New Testament Church. What did Peter say about the care that Jesus Christ has for us? Here is what he wrote in I Peter 5:6-7:

“6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (KJV)

These are the words that Peter wrote. He was the disciple who denied that he even knew jesus Christ three times. Jesus Christ later asked Peter three times if he loved himthe same number of times that Peter had denied even knowing Jesus Christ.

Peter instructs us to cast all our care upon Jesus Christ, including our struggle with sin, our diseases, our anxieties, griefs, and sorrows. We may deny Jesus Christ at times by our sins and actions. However, he still cares for us. We can humble ourselves, repent, and cast all of our cares upon him.

Conclusion

The sacrifice of Jesus Christ was a total sacrifice. He paid the penalty for our sins; he was beaten for our physical healing; and he bore our griefs and sorrows.

If we humble ourselves and let go of pride, we can have peace with God because of the total sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We can also have peace with each other. If we have peace with God and with each other, we are more likely to have peace of mind regardless of our griefs and sorrows.

We have trials and tribulations in this world, but we can be of good cheer because Jesus Christ has overcome the world (John 16:33) and now serves as our high priest (Hebrews 4:15). We should go boldly to the throne of grace and cast all our cares upon him. We can find the peace that passes all understanding and guards our hearts and minds. Because Jesus Christ bore our griefs and sorrows, we can cast all of them on him and have the peace of mind that comes from God.

Battering Ram of Natural Disasters to Breach our Walls

If America insists, and God sends a series (against all
odds for skeptics) of natural disasters He orders as our
Creator, buffeting our borders and shaking up our heartland and
wrecking nerves from coast to coasts (some dying from heart
attacks caused by fear), destroying our economy, creating food
and fuel shortages, the weakened and wobbling America the
Battered and Abominable (refusing to repent of our sins and turn
back to God and spare ourselves from further suffering),
certainly won’t be in much of a position or mood to care about
what happens anywhere else in the world, including Israel. We’ll
look inward, but not spiritually and therefore we’ll continue to
suffer the consequences of our sins (Daniel 9:11) until
Europe takes us all away - the American, British and Jewish
peoples.

Proof Tax Laws Faulty: 9 Out Of 10 Americans Set To Declare Bankruptcy

As the distribution of wealth in America becomes increasingly skewed toward the wealthiest 7% or so of the population, where we find more and more resplendently bedecked billionaires, the income of the other 93% of the populace continues to go the way of wealthiest.

The growing destitution of this significant segment of the population has now become so acute that the majority of Americans are all set to declare bankruptcy.

Appropriately concerned, since we remember the Aristotelian analysis that the stability of a state depends on a the middle class - in case ancient sage’s segmentation has dropped out of the back of your mental file cabinet, he avers, it turns out a bit too generally, that the poor have no material stake in the society and the wealthy are too taken up with whooping it up - we ask, why is it ever more possible for the few to accumulate billions, while the many grow more insolvent?

There is, of course, the much reverenced idea that the race is to the quick and we’re lucky to have the energetic entrepreneurs, CEO’s, and various early adapters and assorted scammers, because, in the process of accumulating their wealth, they do throw off some shekels for the needy multitude.

Yet one does still persistently wonder about the current upward drift of pay dirt.

As a result of our cursory demographic analysis of the distribution of assets and debt, we arrive at the conclusion that the tax code is evidently flawed.

If every billionaire who’s gleefully accumulating his or her way to the status of multibillionaire was also required, while clenching legally onto some few billions as a just reward for expertise of one sort or another, to pay billions in taxes, the government would be well-enough provided for without taking a pair of Draco’s shears to the transparently taxable paycheck of the average Joe or Jan.

Further evidence of that the tax code is not proportionate to the ability to earn is, while someone who earns billions makes headlines, if even anybody ever paid billions in taxes, he or she would make history.

In conclusion, it’s time to set up the tax laws so the quick who earn their billions will pay proportionate billions and the beleaguered average wage earners can step back from the brink of bankruptcy.

The revision requires little change in lifestyle at the high end and presents rejuvenating rewards to the middling low end.

After all, what is the difference between the life a person can have with a mere billion or so to fling around or keep under the floorboards compared with the one he or she can have with many more billions? On the other hand, there is quite a sumptuous difference between how one can live when he or she is making the usual $40,000 to $50,000 a year while their much revered but feared Uncle Sam is standing by with his big hand at the ready for a scoop of what is, in today’s calculation of monetary splendor, hardly more than necessitous chump change.

Husband Gripes from the Past

My husband, the modern man, wouldn’t dream of doing anything the old-fashioned, cheap way. I, on the other hand, hold out until all else fails before I spend a dime. It’s amazing that we ever agree on anything. Do we? Yes. I save money and he spends it. I think that means we complement each other.

A few weeks ago I took a shovel and dug a thistle, root and all, out of the lawn after it attacked my bare foot. Mr. Modern came unglued. “Don’t dig a hole in the lawn!” He drove to town, spent eighty dollars on weed killer, drove home, mixed it up, and went over and sprayed a thistle. After about a week, the weed and surrounding vegetation shriveled up and died. Then I took my shovel and dug up the dead weed, root and all, and threw it into the fire barrel. Enough said.

In the morning paper, I always read the obituaries first. If my name isn’t there, I go to work. If I ever see me name. I’ll lie back down. I also check for my friend, Linda. Then i call her and tell her to go to work. One morning she moaned, “Are you sure? Please check again. I can’t feel this bad and still be alive.”

Come Let Us Lament

My sister-in-law asked me to write this article. She must be lamenting.

The best place to lament is at the Wailing Wall. You can see the Wailing Wall at http://www.aish.com/wallcam/. The picture changes often so you will know what is going on.

I suggest that you do your wailing right in front of your computer. Look at the picture. Every time it updates, do your wailing.

To lament you show strong regret aloud. That’s the only way to really do it. First you need a list of things over which to lament. Here are some suggestions:

1.You forgot to buy a lottery ticket for the National Lottery last week and your regular number came up. That cost you a zillion dollars.

2.You spent $40,000.00 on your son’s education and he is working at McDonalds after graduating in social studies with a Spanish minor. He graduated magna cum laude. You talked him out of majoring in celestial mechanics.

3.Your grandkids have come to live with you until they are graduated from college. Their ages are 4, 7, 9, and 13. You will be 87 years old when the youngest graduates and your spouse will be 96 years old.

4.You bought a used car from a little old lady. The 1986 Ford had only 40,000 miles on it. Yesterday the transmission went out. The owner of the transmission repair shop said, “This is Mrs. Henderson’s old car, isn’t it? Yes, that is the transmission I put in it at 98,000 miles. I checked it at 149, 000 miles and again at 199,000 miles. Well, she got her money’s worth. Let’s see, I can replace that for you for $2300.00. However, that rebuilt engine isn’t going to last forever. Did you look at those tires? Does it still pull to the right when you break for dogs?

5.You had a chance to talk about your new business with a rich acquaintance you met on the golf course and gain some financial support from him. When his ball went into the lake, you laughed.

Well, that should get you going. Now how to you do the actual lamenting? Well, get the Wailing Wall Picture on your monitor by going to http://www.aish.com/wallcam/.

Chant as follows:

I lost a zillion dollars!
I lost a zillion dollars!
I lost a zillion dollars!

Forty Grand and my son works at McDonalds!

Forty Grand and my son works at McDonalds!

Forty Grand and my son works at McDonalds!

We’re raising kids again!

We’re raising kids again!
We’re raising kids again!

I got ripped off by a nice old lady!

I got ripped off by a nice old lady!

I got ripped off by a nice old lady!

I laughed my business away!
I laughed my business away!
I laughed my business away!

A nice ending to your chant might be:

Why am I so stupid?
Why can’t I do anything right?
Please God, give me another chance!
Please God, give me another chance!

Well, that should do it for my sister-in-law. Jump right in!

The End

Where Is The Lord God Of Elijah?

2 Kings 2 verse 14 “And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither and Elisha went over.”

I have been meditating on this passage of scripture for the last several days. Chapter two of 2 Kings tells the story of Elijah’s last day on earth, before the chariot of fire took him in a whirlwind. Elisha was to be Elijah’s replacement, and he was journeying with Elijah to several places. He refused to leave Elijah’s side and knew that particular day would be Elijah’s last on earth. Several other prophets also knew that Elijah was going to be taken by the LORD…it was no secret to them. They even asked Elisha if he knew but he told them to hold their peace and say nothing about it. Elijah performed his last miracle when he took his mantle, smote the waters of the river Jordan, and they parted. When they crossed the Jordan, Elijah asked Elisha what he could do for him. Elisha asked for a double portion of Elijah’s spirit, and Elijah said, “Thou hast asked a hard thing” (reminds me of the fact to get a portion of the spirit cost something…trials, testings, troubles, faith exercised, heartaches, misunderstandings, etc). Suddenly, a chariot of fire appeared, parted Elijah and Elisha, and then…Elijah was gone with the wind.

Elijah’s mantle fell from him, Elisha took it up, smote the waters with it, and said “Where is the LORD God of Elijah?”. The LORD God of Elijah answered Elisha’s prayer, and the waters parted.

The LORD God of Elijah and Elisha is our LORD God. His power and authority are still the same today as yesterday. I know it would appear foolish to some for a grown man to strike the waters with his coat, yet this act of faith created a great miracle. The question that keeps going through my mind is “Where is the LORD God of Elijah?” We need him more today than we did yesterday. What does it take to have some of the spirit of Elijah? My prayer is that the LORD God of Elijah would show himself strong in our behalf.

2 Chronicles 16 verse 9 “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.”

Over-Committed

It is with concern that I notice a large sector of society over-committing themselves financially. It is increasingly noticeable that few people can actually afford the cars they drive. Noticeable, because purchasers are having to forego the usual safety features one would normally expect on a motor vehicle. The car owners, having paid out their hard-earned cash, can simply not afford such luxuries. One could imagine that the problem I am relating is applicable to those modes of transportation with an elevated price tag–high performance vehicles such as BMW’s, Porsches, and the like. On the contrary, evidence points to this being an issue that has no respect for barriers of income or education. Why do I say this? Let me tell you of my observations.

New cars seem to lack indicators. Many vehicles now only come equipped with the coloured plastic or glass lenses to ensure that they look good, but the functioning parts have been removed to save a few pennies. Every time I see a car make an unsignalled turn directly in front of me as I hurtle 100 kilometers an hour towards it, I think “Poor fellow, he’s over-extended on his capital.” Everything from a sports car to a beat-up truck is appearing without the humble blinker connections.

This phenomenon is spreading at an alarming rate. Not only has it gone into every sector of society, but is also affecting numerous other vehicle features that were once considered standard fare. Side and rear-view mirrors are lacking, being replaced with cheap, non-reflective plastic instead. The few cents saved in this area allows them the flexibility to change lanes, hold up traffic, cut off cyclists and ignore the police car following behind with it’s flashing lights, all without undue concern. “I’m sorry officer, I just didn’t see you behind me, and I didn’t hear you either as the stereo was on quite loud.” ‘Cut-back’ is a concept which should never be applied to a motorist’s sound system!

To further support my case, there is the unusually large number of cars that I see with only one headlight going. Headlights are, I agree, fairly expensive to replace. The cost of a bulb can set you back a mighty $19.00. Money that is ill-afforded these days when that same amount will provide the vital rejuvenation of a ticket to the movies and popcorn.

Perhaps more telling, and a more annoying example of the headlight dilemma, is the sharp increase in vehicles available without dimmers fitted on the headlights. Owners are opting for the reduced cost of full beam lights, instead of the much more expensive dual operational lights. Faced with an oncoming vehicle around a sharp corner on a road you do not know–a swampy ditch on one side and a rocky cliff face on the other–you can be quite compassionate on the poor under-financed individual coming towards you, with lights that could be seen on Jupiter.

Brakes are another victim of this tendency for cost cutting. Many hapless drivers are travelling around our cities, seemingly so impoverished, that the brakes have been sold to buy the latest mobile phone faceplate. So, as I stare at the vehicle roaring through the red light in front of me, I think that I should donate a few dollars to “HILDAZ” so that she can invest in some brakes - the name kindly provided by the lovely personalised plate adorning the bumper. Of course, Hilda does not acknowledge my gesture of goodwill, since she is locked in some life or death conversation on her cell. It is no wonder the road statistics are so high when stopping a car necessitates the presence of another object in its path - be it car, fence, ditch, or streetlight. I am ashamed to say that most other motorists on our roads who are equipped with brakes are not assisting these people, When they could be offering their vehicles as a stopping mechanism for brake-less fellows, they are, instead, waiting for inordinate amounts of time to pull away when the light turns green, ensuring that they are not tainted by association with poorer citizens. Thus the hard-up person without brakes continues to careen at excessive speeds through populated areas, red traffic lights, and pedestrian crossings, with no fault to their own person.

A further sign of financial over-commitment on a vehicle is viewed in the lack of maintenance. You need only take a stroll through a parking lot to take note of how many vehicles are outside of the warranty, or registration, often both. Another very visible sign of this is the emissions cast in our faces, almost as if they are gloating about their lack of solvency. Or perhaps it is a silent, yet pungent plea for assistance. When next a vehicle shrouds you in the filth of exhaust, perhaps you should make a diary note to pay your respects at the vehicle’s inevitable upcoming funeral.

These are just my observations and I cringe to think what other, unobservable signs there may be of this pervasive problem on our roadways. There may be symptoms of financial hardship which are not so easily seen on a daily tour of the city.

When will this slide into poverty cease? How long can we support people who cannot afford fully functioning vehicles? I just pray that every person on the road will put aside their frustrations and spare a compassionate thought for the under-privileged on our roads. In this way, our streets will be safer for all.
